GSM-Youth Services Centre was founded in 1985, in Ankara to support social, cultural, artistic, scientific and professional improvement of young people and to develop projects on active participation of young people in social and economic life.

As a youth organization, GSM always regards youngsters as the most dynamic part and source of the society rather than accepting them as problematic part of it. GSM performs all its projects in cooperation with young leaders and asking for their contributions in our events so that they become aware of volunteerism and responsibility in a deeper sense.

Voluntarism is a two-way action contributing to psycho-social improvement of youth and providing social benefits for them. In addition, taking a place in such activities give the opportunity to improve their communication skills, understand the meaning of sharing, learn teamwork and solidarity, gain new experiences, meet different people, learn how to organize events, get to know different institutions, understand the society and the world better and increase their self-confidence for youngsters.

GSM believes that young people who internalized the importance of voluntarism also learn to be active citizens. Moreover, it becomes easier to have reciprocal trust and respect among individuals who manage to get the idea of active citizenship, which provide a society built on a strong basis.

GSM advocates that it is necessary to encourage youth to participate actively in social, economic and political life in order to make them citizens having hopes for both today and the future instead of becoming self-conscious individuals.

Its aim is trying to make young people conscious of the direct relation between their support to society and expectations from both today and future. GSM has always the mission relies on the idea that taking action starting today is crucial to meet their expectations of young people in future.

GSM is aware of the difficulties awaiting the youngsters and trying to help youth get over those difficulties; furthermore, we try to help youth learn that life is a system containing giving as well as taking.

GSM develops various projects and cooperates with different governmental, international, non-governmental and private sector organizations so as to increase the life standards of the youth in Turkey up to the level of life standards of the youth in EU countries. GSM sees facilitating the youth become the most important part of the society as our primary duty and in order to achieve it, GSM both tries to make use of all the opportunities available and takes part in all the platforms where youth is represented.
